How are the band represented?
The artist is represented on her own as a stereotypical woman who wants to party. She is shown coming onto different men and having run ins with the police. She is shown to go against her 'family' and go out even when they don't approve. But does all of this in a fashionable sense, making herself look sexy towards the men in the video. The close ups of her show how the video is focused on her. She could be represented as quite a vulnerable person as she is alone with several people she has only just met, however the video shows her to be quite strong in herself and could show that she doesn't need anybody else. She is often shown in long shots, showing her independence.
What relationship exists between the images and the lyrics in the video?
When the lyrics state "get a little bit tipsy" the video then goes several different colours and the image gets distorted, as if she is getting drunk. The very first line is "wake up in the morning" and it shows a long shot of her waking up in a bath tub, as a result of her night out, at the end of the video she is shown again in a bath suggesting this is a normal, everyday thing for her and that her daily life is often repeated this way. When the lyrics say "the dudes are lining up" it shows men trying to impress her with cars etc. When she is entering a club the setting is blue and calm and the lyrics heard are "now the party don't start till i walk in" and after this she enters and is seen amongst other people all dancing surrounded with brighter colours.
What relationship exists between the music and images?
The music is fast paced with a lot of beats within it. The video mirrors this by having lots of fast cuts in it matching the beats. An example of this is where she exits the house at the start and the woman with her is so shocked by her appearance she drops her pancakes, which fall to the floor at the same time as the beat of the music. In the middle of the song, the beat slows down to show a slower verse, which is mirrored by the actions in the video, which have much slower softer cuts, where she starts dancing slowly, in a more provocative way.
