Colour Scheme

I need to decide on a colour scheme for my poster and album cover, that fits in with the theme of my video. My first thoughts on this are that I should have an ongoing "cartoon" theme, which could be using very basic colours, such as black, white and primary colours. I will create samples of various colour schemes and then ask an audience to vote for their favourite, so I can take their ideas into consideration.

Final Font

Due to my audience's voting and my personal choice I have decided to use Doodle Pen Limited as the font for my products. I think that this will work well because it suits the theme of my video and it suits my target audience and is 'cartoony' without being too childish.

Font Options

All of my font ideas are done in the 'cartoon' style like i first planned, so that they would match my video. I have chosen 5 different possible fonts and I am going to ask my audience which one they prefer, before coming to a final decision.

5 people liked "pointy" the most. the general feedback from it was that it was a fun font, with the majority of the voters liking the square shape with its shading.

6 people liked "doodle pen limited" the most. They thought that the free hand style of the font would fit in with my product theme and that the messy lines looked good.

Only 2 people liked "love ya like a sister" most,. They liked the styling of the letters and how they are a bit random, however, other people have said that the style of the font seems too formal for my products.

Nobody liked "hirn bold" the most. My audience said that this font was too bold for my products, as they imagined my text to be more delicate.

3 people liked "hand of sean" the most, they said that the free hand style of the font would look good with my cartoon theme, and that it was informal enough for my target audience.

Font Ideas

I will need to find a font to use for my products that maches the theme of my video and looks proffesional on my products. The genre of my video is indie/rock however I have taken a different approach to it and done an animation which might have made it a slightly softer genre, so I think I could use a less aggressive font and make my products look more appealing to a wider audience range, while still attracting their fans due to it being their song.

Class Pitch

I have pitched my ideas to the rest of the class through explaining what my film story would be about. The class mainly enjoyed it, there were some questions asked about my video, such as one girl asking how I would actually film it. I then told her how I would draw each individual shot on a programme such as paint and then eventually put them all into order and match them to the song.

Storyboard

Characters

For my film I have decided that I am going to have two main characters, a male and female. I could also include other female characters to develop my story more. These characters will be simply drawn, adding to the effect of the video. The male will be shown to be a stereotypical "indie-rock" boy who listens to the genre of my music video. He will be drawn with simple clothes on, again adding to the effect of the video. The female characters will be drawn in a similar way, with various hairstyles to allow the viewers to distinguish between them.

Thoughts

Due to me doing an animation video, I cannot comment on what location or actors I am going to use, as I will be drawing it all out.
I think that I am going to use a programme such as paint to create all the individual shots that I will use for my video, which will then make it easy to upload them onto the software I will use to edit it.
I have a rough idea of what I am going to make my video about. I think that the lyrics mean a man has fallen out of love with the woman he is with, or that he has used her, so I am going to base my video around the idea of this, with the man shown to be powerful and very independent, while the woman will seem confused about the whole situation.

Lyrical Analysis

I think that this song represents a relationship where the man has fallen out of love with the woman. The song makes me think that they have been together for a while, as he doesn't want to hurt her by telling her the truth.
You’re a canary, I’m a coal mine
Cause sorrow is just all the rage
This could relate to when coal miners used canary birds to test the air in the tunnels for poison, as they would die first if the air was impure. This could link to his relationship, suggesting she is in danger being with him, can be easily replaced and that she doesn't hold any value to him.
Take one for the team
You all know what I mean
This shows how he is going to react to the situation, as he doesn't want to hurt her, he wont break up with her and he will just pretend everything is okay. The way that he addresses the audience in the second line suggests that its not just him going through this situation and he knows that other men or women will be having this problem.
And I’m so sorry, but not really
Tell the boys where to find my body
This shows that he is sorry for falling out of love with her, but he also cant help his feelings. The second line is saying that he will stay with her physically, but he wont still love her, so he cant be with her mentally.
New York eyes, Chicago thighs
Pushed up the window to kiss you off
The two different areas could relate to how she is the wrong person for him, or how he feels that his relationship isn't 'complete' anymore, as she has changed somehow. The second line could show how he is trying to feel like he did before, the word "pushed" is quite forceful, showing how he is almost forcing himself to love her again, but he cant bring back that emotion.
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do to you
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do to you
The chorus is saying that the truth behind the relationship (that he doesn't love her) is worse than anything he could ever do to her, e.g run out on her or cheat.
Do you remember the way I held your hand?
Under the lamp post and ran home
This way so many times
I could close my eyes
This shows him trying to go back into his previous state of mind to be able to love her again, even going as far as closing his eyes and praying for it, but the repetition of the chorus after this shows that nothing he does works and that he still doesn't love her.
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do to you
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do to you
The repetition of the chorus reassures the point of how he doesn't want to hurt her by telling her the truth, but he can't help how he feels.
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do
The truth hurts worse than anything I could bring myself to do to you
The truth
The truth

(Now press repeat)
This is said in a robotic voice, which could signify how often this happens in relationships. It could also show how the relationship is a circle, with him repeatedly falling in and then out of love with the woman again.
