I like the overall effect that these shots have and I think they will look good when I make them into a video. The limited colour supply aids to the cartoon look that I am going for, making the video look more retro.

This poster looks quite simple when first seen. With the colour scheme being black and red, it shows the genre of the band. The three members are sitting at the bottom of the poster, with a look of seriousness upon all of their faces. This also shows the genre of the band. The wallpaper behind them is a fancy pattern, which could show how successful they are, however it fades into black towards the top of the poster, which could show the feelings gone into their songs. The name of the band is shows at the top in a light grey and white, which contrasts against the black of the background. This could also show that they are trying to give sad people a bit of light in their life. This is also shown by the way the light is circled around them sitting down. The band are dressed in mostly black, which again shows their genre and attracts their audience. The bands name isn't written in a big font, which could also show how well they are doing, because people will automatically know who they are, so they don't need a big font.
There isn't a definite colour scheme for this poster, but it is mostly black with hints of yellow and green. These colours are linked with dirt and nature, which could suggest that they are a naturalist band. the band name is written in bold white, with the font being the bands signature font. This allows for their fan base to identify the band easily, aiding to the popularity of them as the poster may bring in new fans, while still attracting their old ones. The poster only shows the bands bodies, while their legs are faded into black, mirroring the top of the poster with the bottom. This also adds definition to the bands faces, as they are almost in the centre and the lightest part of the page. The band is shown to be cose together by them hugging and standing close, this shows a unity between the band members and suggests that they have fun in making and producing their songs, which will attract even more of an audience.
The poster is very similar to the single cover, as it shows the band in another serious pose, however this shows them as being put in a superhero type situation as they are shown in a long shot standing on the edge of a building looking over the city as if watching for danger. They are shown from a very low angle shot, presenting them as the hero's of the situation. They present themselves as hero's by the way they are standing., as the majority have their arms back with their chests out in a dominant stance. The sky above them is a darkened colour and looks stormy, which could show more of the superhero theme, as if there is danger coming and they can stop it. The band name is written at the top in the same font as the single cover but in blue, this could be because the red one wouldn't match the colour scheme of this poster. It still attracts attention and stands out because the inside of the letters have been darkened slightly, so that they wont fade into the background. There is also a tag line at the top of the poster using the words "super city wants you" which draws the viewer into the poster, including them with the use of "you" and adding to the superhero theme. The website is also advertised at the bottom, where it stands out against the dark building behind it.
This poster is very simple, as it only consits of a block colour background, a photo and a title. The background is in block red, which draws the audiences attention as it is so bright. The title contrasts against in as it is written in white, which could represent the way that they have recently gained increasing fame and are now standing out from the crowd. The photo is a long shot of the band, standing in a triangular formation with the singer standing at the front. This could show the natural hirachy in the band. They all have similar facial expressions, showing how similar they are and showing unity in the band. The clothing is also similar, with the majority wearing black and white. The singers collar is standing up, showing his confidence as a show man and showing how comfortable he is within the group.
This poster is an extended version of one of her single cover, allowing the viewer to see some of the lower half of her body. The poster is a medium shot of her, allowing the viewer to see the majority of her body and some of her legs, as she is sitting down. She is biting her nail and her expression shows nervousness and curiosity, which resembles a child. This could suggest her thinking like a child, which shows some of her true character. The brightest thing on the page is her hair, which could relate to my earlier single cover post, where her hair was the only thing showing. It shows that this is an iconic part of her appearance and it could suggest that she often hides away behind a protective front. The poster is coloured in black and white, which could also suggest she is hiding away from the world. Again, you can see her tattoos which give a little insight into the real her, they are both slightly hidden in shadows, which further proves she hides herself away from the public. The title of her album is written at the bottom of the poster in white, making it stand out from the rest of the black and white background. Even though it is not a big part of the poster, it is still big enough to stand out from the rest of it. The "T" in monster is also written as a cross, which could link to the religious references within the album. It is also placed right on the edge of her back, close to where her spine is, which could suggest that she is religious herself.

This cover shows medium long shot a boy cutting through a "pinata" style heart. It matches the single as that is about a conflict between falling in and out of love, this relates to the cover as the boy has cut through the majority of the heart, leaving the very bottom together, which could suggest him being undecided. The heart has flyer's and starts shooting out of it where he has cut through it, making up for the blood which should have been there, this makes the whole situation a lot cuter and friendly, which could suggest his target audience. The background is a plain grey and white, which allows the image and the writing to stand out. The bands name is written in white at the top of the single cover, in a block of black colour. This makes it the first thing to catch the eye of the audience, bringing in their original fans, while the colourful image may attract new ones. The name of the song is written in the same style of the bands name, however this is at the bottom, still visible but not as attracting as the one at the top. The image covers both parts of writing slightly, making the image once again a greater focus.

How is the band represented?
The band isn't present for the majority of the video, as it is focused on a fake web page. However they appear at certain intervals, all in the same type of long shot, the first being at the start of the video, where they are shown in the middle of a line of girls. Their position could represent power, as the girls are all looking towards them, standing in flirtatious positions, whereas the two boys are shown in a relaxed stance. One band member is shown after this in different fake scenarios, one being on a lilo with two other girls and another where he is crowd surfing, again showing power, as he is above everybody else. The other band member is shown shortly after where he is performing on a stage for a large crowd, this again could show power as he is the one that everyone is focused on. The band members are constantly shown amongst women, showing sexuality and popularity. The video is based around this fake website, which continuously pans down from one video to another, which could suggest that the band is constantly going from idea to idea, never staying on one single event but enjoying many in a short space of time.
What relationship exists between the images and the lyrics in the video?
The images often match the lyrics of the video, an example of this is when the lyrics go "'Cause there's so many fine woman that my head is spinning" a band member is shown on a lilo in a pool with two women, who are dressed in bikinis. He is in the centre of them while they are running their arms up and down him in a flirtatious way, showing his dominance. Shortly after this, the lyrics "I'm seeing double vision" are said, and two pictures of different women are shown sunbathing, and their front and back is shown, linking to the "double vision".
What relationship exists between the music and the images in the video?
At the start of the video, the screen doesn't start scrolling until the music picks up into a rhythm, this scrolling then continues until the end of the song. The chorus then starts when you see one of the band members and his mini video starts, also, the girls with him on the lilo react to the music by punching the air everything the word "hey" is said, this theme continues throughout. The different singers are shown separately as their voices are heard in the song.
Are there any inter-textual references in the video?
The whole video is based around a fake website which is being viewed. It is made up of different videos that are played in time with the music, one of these is a video of the two girls below, who go through the lyrics which are written on their bodies. This is a link to the two girls who have used this method in a music video before.

How are the band represented?
The singer for the band is presented throughout this video as being lonely and somewhat aggressive towards other people. He is shown to not care about how his actions affect others by the way he continuously walks forward, knocking people without ever looking back. Even when there is a medium close-up of a woman shouting in his face he doesn't pay any notice towards her. This could show that he believes in concentrating only on your future and that any past mistakes should be forgotten. At the end of the video the rest of the band join him to walk in a line across the pavement, showing that they all uphold the same views as the singer has presented during the rest of the video. It could also show that when they are together, nothing can stop them, as nobody tries to walk or bump into them, unlike when it was just the singer, who alone was constantly walking into people. The video ends showing a long shot of the five men walking into the distance before fading out into black. Another representation could be that as he walks, his paces don't match the beat of the music, as they are slightly out of time. This may show that he is out of sinc with the world and the people around him.
What relationship exists between the images and the lyrics in the video?
Throughout the video the singer is shown to sinc the lyrics. There are also other times where the lyrics are matched with actions shown. One time is when the lyrics say "your a slave to money" and a man is seen pushing a washing machine from a shop, showing his job. When the woman standing in front of him shouting, the lyrics state "I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me" this is contrasting as the woman's words are not heard. As the lyrics "And I'm a million different people" he looks into the window of a car seeing his reflection as if he is looking at who he is today.
What relationship exists between the music and images?
The establishing shot of the video shows the singers feet walking right along a pavement, the camera then pans out slightly, revealing a sign that has an arrow pointing left and above the arrow saying "pedestrians". As soon as this arrow is revealed the music starts playing, which could represent a summary of how the singer lives his life, by going the wrong way.
How are the band represented?
The artist is represented on her own as a stereotypical woman who wants to party. She is shown coming onto different men and having run ins with the police. She is shown to go against her 'family' and go out even when they don't approve. But does all of this in a fashionable sense, making herself look sexy towards the men in the video. The close ups of her show how the video is focused on her. She could be represented as quite a vulnerable person as she is alone with several people she has only just met, however the video shows her to be quite strong in herself and could show that she doesn't need anybody else. She is often shown in long shots, showing her independence.
What relationship exists between the images and the lyrics in the video?
When the lyrics state "get a little bit tipsy" the video then goes several different colours and the image gets distorted, as if she is getting drunk. The very first line is "wake up in the morning" and it shows a long shot of her waking up in a bath tub, as a result of her night out, at the end of the video she is shown again in a bath suggesting this is a normal, everyday thing for her and that her daily life is often repeated this way. When the lyrics say "the dudes are lining up" it shows men trying to impress her with cars etc. When she is entering a club the setting is blue and calm and the lyrics heard are "now the party don't start till i walk in" and after this she enters and is seen amongst other people all dancing surrounded with brighter colours.
What relationship exists between the music and images?
The music is fast paced with a lot of beats within it. The video mirrors this by having lots of fast cuts in it matching the beats. An example of this is where she exits the house at the start and the woman with her is so shocked by her appearance she drops her pancakes, which fall to the floor at the same time as the beat of the music. In the middle of the song, the beat slows down to show a slower verse, which is mirrored by the actions in the video, which have much slower softer cuts, where she starts dancing slowly, in a more provocative way.
